Jalan's meet

On Saturday Jalan had another cross country meet in Salem. He was excited to run in the JV run. He has been running in the "open" race, which is all the boys who want to run that didnt make varisty or jv top runners from their school. But Jalan had beat out a few other boys and got a spot on the Jv team. He has been finishing 5th from his team. Jalan started out the race with 147 boys, and was tripped and fell down. He was in second to last place-in front of another boy who tripped as well. He got up and we were afraid he was pretty much out of the race. This course was very tough, with lots of hills and valleys. We watched him pass halfway and he was going pretty good, but looked tired. We were worried. The kids and I went to the finish line to see him cross it, and Troy stayed behind to yell for him at the tough last hill. Troy says that as Jalan came up the hill, he started yelling for jalan to keep going and he gave him a fist pump, and said he could see Jalan's face and it gave him a boost. It brought tears to his daddys eyes to see his face with such a strong will. Here is Jalan almost to finish.
Jalan finished strong and got 39th place out of 147 runners. We were SOOO proud of him and his determination to finish strong and even got a trophy! This was his first trophy this year for cross country. He has several ribbons but was thrilled to receive a trophy. After Troy made his way back to us at the finish and saw Jalan with his trophy, he had another opportunity to hide his eyes as his emotions took over. It was such a warming experience to see the love of a father to his son. Wow I cant imagine how much better this will continue to get as he gets older and continues in his achievements!! We had such a great start to our Saturday and we were all so thrilled to been able to watch jalan do so good and shared that as a family-minus Disnee who was too lazy on a saturday to get up and leave the house at 8:20 AM. CAn you see how tired Jalan looks in the picture!! We love this boy!!

Love these days...NOT!

Dont you just love those days when you wake up at 2 AM hearing your 5 year old throwing up in the bathroom? Then you get to spend all night helping her puke every 30 minutes...followed by getting up at 6 am to get the kids up and ready for seminary, then getting the boys off to school...so sleep is pretty much an imagination. Ya thats my day today. Bummer!! I dont love these days!

Macee says.....

Macee is so funny. I love the things kids say! The other day we were driving in Mt. Vernon and she says, "Man it looks like we are in Oklahoma!" ???????? What the???? haha.

A while back we were talking about something, who knows, and she said, "I want one of those Bird Watson Quarters." We were dying laughing...there is a store here called Byrd Watson Drug Store...and she saw the quarter with the eagle on the back or whatever it is...and put two and two together and it made perfect sense to her!

A couple of nights ago Troy asked her to to lotion his feet. So of course she asks how much money he will give her. He told her 5 cents...she replies, "What a ripoff!!"

LOVE THAT GIRL!!!!

Jalan's Running Cross Country

This year Jalan decided to join the Jr High cross country team. Of course he is only in 5th grade, and the Jr high is 6, 7, and 8th...but his coach lets some of the 5th graders run too. So Jalan was with a lot older group of kids. He did a great job...and his uniform is a little drowning!!He had a meet at Mt. Vernon on Saturday that we got to go and watch. He was in the open run.
Here is some of the group, not all of them, we figured there was close to 100..This is the start of his 1.2 mile run. Jalan on his last stretch...see the line of kids back around the lake?

We were so proud of this little guy!! He took 19th out of around 100. We couldnt believe it! His goal is to get better each time. We wondered how he would do with his asthma and such, but its been ok so far and he is really enjoying running. Great job Jalan!!

FYI

Just for anyone who hadnt heard and needed to hear, Troy is in the hospital right now with pneumonia. I mean, he is a patient, not working! I have to clear stuff up like that with people all the time, and even to our kids....Ya dad is IN the hospital, not AT the hospital! He ended up in the ER last night and this morning they admitted him into the hospital so he can get some IV antibiotics for a couple of days. Its nothing too serious, but anytime you are hospitalized it stinks!! Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Poor guy cant catch a break!! Its becoming a yearly habit!! No, but really, he is doing ok, just tired and icky and coughing alot. But he is in good spirits. Thanks to everyone for their concern and prayers!

So, yesterday Disnee got her learners permit!! Holy cow how can this be?? Wish Troy and I luck, and the rest of Centralia!!

High School Cheerleaders

So the girls had their first game last Saturday. They are cheering for the JV, so here they are cheering for the freshman team. They did a great job and we smeared the other team, 44-0. The tradition here is for the cheerleaders to do the amount of points we earn, they do pushups...(go figure)..so they did over 80 pushups!! good job girls! I couldnt get close enough to see them good.
My cute girls! Unfortunately, there is some situation with one of the girls and her uniform, so they have to wear these stupid tshirts and shorts for now...we are so mad!! they have adorable uniforms and these are ugly!! Oh well, they are cute no matter what!! GO ORPHANS!!!!
